Art Director & Senior Designer
In her own words...
I consider myself a communicator first and an artist second. Every project presents an opportunity to stretch one's mind before setting the visual work into motion. I became a designer so that I would have a thinking career, not just a make-it-pretty job, so my commitment lies in concept-driven design that emphasizes intent and effect, not merely a look.
I do very well in collaborative environments where ideas can be pooled and then grown collectively. But I also work well independently – welcoming criticism and direction as an opportunity to improve my craft. I believe there are opportunities to learn and grow at every turn so I always check my ego at the door. And I don't mind rolling up my sleeves when the dirty work needs doing. With experience in both small studios and corporate creative departments, I understand the limitations and assets of each environment and how to work effectively in either situation.
Past Experience
GRAPHIC DESIGNER: D-ZINE INC.
New York City
Concept-driven solutions are at the core of this boutique design firm’s philosophy. In this “bar-raising” environment, expectations for upscale retail, food & beverage packaging, corporate identity, business collateral, retail and B2B catalogs, and website development resulted in a quality of design of which I am proud. As I often worked directly with multiple clients simultaneously, I established a better sense of awareness of their personal perceptions and expectations as well as cultivating a more conscious and sensitive communication style.
GRAPHIC DESIGNER: FREELANCE
(World Wrestling Entertainment and other independent projects)
Stamford, Connecticut
As a freelance designer, my projects have been diverse and engaging. Independent projects are often identity evolution and collateral material for startup businesses and existing companies. My 18-month assignment with World Wrestling Entertainment (formerly WWF) allowed me to become part of a collaborative team focusing on a specifically targeted design aesthetic which simultaneously captures wit, rage, glamor and testosterone. Posters, advertisements, banners, sales material, tickets, environmental graphics, logos and brochures followed cohesive themes generated as a result of brainstorm sessions and creative problem-solving.
GRAPHIC DESIGNER : AMERICAN STUDIO LTD.
Stamford, Connecticut
My work in the design department entailed concept, illustration and design of brand identities, textile patterns, packaging, hang tags and POP displays. Additionally, I worked closely with the sales department to create unique visuals for effectively detailed buyer presentations. Responsibilities also included directing junior designers, preparing projects for print and production and acting as a liaison between U.S. offices and manufacturing facilities in Asia.
